The Problem It Addresses
Removing a background is a small task that appears constantly. A seller photographing twenty products, a marketer preparing thumbnails, someone fixing the background of a résumé photo — none of them need the full power of a professional editor, but all of them need the same repetitive cut-out.
The usual options are inconvenient in different ways. Desktop editors are capable but slow to open and steep to learn. Web services are quick but ask you to upload the photo, create an account, and accept a daily quota. We wanted a third option: as fast as a web service, but without the upload.
Processing Happens on Your Device
The background removal model runs inside your browser, on your own hardware. Your photo is read into browser memory, analysed there, and returned as a transparent PNG. Nothing is transmitted to a server, because there is no server-side endpoint that receives images at all.
This matters most for pictures you would rather not hand over: unreleased product shots, ID and passport photos, screenshots containing internal information, and photos of family members. With a local-first tool, the question of how long a service retains your upload never arises.
Who It Is For

How the Service Is Run
The site is a static page served from a CDN, with no application backend and no user database. The AI model files are fetched from a public CDN and cached by your browser. This keeps operating costs low enough that the tool can stay free without a credit system.
Running costs are covered by advertising displayed on the site. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly which analytics and advertising technologies are involved and how to opt out of personalised advertising.
Honest Limits
Output quality depends on the source photo. Resolution, lighting, and how clearly the subject separates from the background matter far more than any setting in the interface. Hair, fur, glass, water, and reflective surfaces are genuinely difficult for automatic segmentation, and the manual touch-up brush exists precisely because those cases need a human pass.
Because the computation runs on your device, an old phone processing a very large image will be slower than a desktop with a modern GPU. The first run of a session is also slower, since the model has to be downloaded before it can be cached.
